Traditionally, coins are created through mining (Proof-of-Work), where a computer has to perform a difficult task for a chance to find a block. This takes a lot of energy, and therefore there are concerns over energy efficiency with cryptocoins. Peercoin introduces Proof-of-Stake, where wallets that are holding coins (about a month, I think). This is known as minting. When one finds a PoS block, the balance temporarily becomes unavailable, which is known as stake. This process involves no difficult work (mining, hashing), and therefore is very energy-efficient.

It's also a lot more secure long-term since something like a 51% attack on the network is pretty much impossible. Today, due to the need to protect the network from attacks while it's still growing, both PoW and PoS blocks are supported by Peercoin, so both 'big guys' with mining rigs and regular people holding balances can find blocks and receive coins as reward.

LINKS: - - - - - Welcome to! Pure security using only for fair distribution of wealth. Trying to poolmine some peercoins. I'm trying to use this site I downloaded the cgminer link for gpu's under the getting started tab there.
I created a.bat file with the code structure also provided on the getting started page. While cgminer connects to the pool it doesn't recognize my gpu.
It says No Devices Detected! And Waiting for usb hotplug devices Here's the code I use: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://ppc.coinmine.pl:6050 -u mcwrenn21.1 -p 1234 (When i use the cpu cgminer given on this pools website it connects and works but the hash rate is super low (4kh/s) and i dont get any valid shares)M My computer has a Nvidia Quadro 1000M, i understand that there are some issues with mining litecoins with nvidia cards (do those apply here??). Any advice is appreciated!
