How To Mine BitcoinDark BTCD With Gpu
##Quick pool mining tutorial • Choose a pool and create an account • Create a new worker on your account - Use a simple name and password. The password will be stored in plaintext on the miner so do not use the same password as any other accounts • Download a mining script: • CGMiner 3.7.2 -. It is important that you use version 3.7.2, as newer versions don't support GPU mining nor scrypt mining and those are the things you need. CGMiner is one of the best miners available for AMD GPU's, and AMD's hardware is generally better than NVIDIA when it comes to mining, so pick CGMiner if you use an ATI/AMD graphics card.
List of cryptocurrency mining pools BitcoinDark (BTCD). The energy used mining Scrypt coins for years to prolong the days of GPU mining was a truly enormous waste.
• CUDAMiner -. CUDAMiner is a fork of CGMiner which specializes in mining with CUDA cores. A CUDA core is the same as a stream processor or ALU, only NVIDIA has made it 'smarter' and capable of more complex things. This means there are fewer of them on each graphics card as they're naturally more expensive to produce and physically larger to fit on the die. This is one of the major reasons why AMD outperforms NVIDIA.
Get CUDAMiner if you are using NVIDIA graphics. • Pooler's CPUMiner -. If you don't have a graphics card (using onboard or integrated graphics instead) your only option is to mine with your CPU. It doesn't come close to the performance of the GPU miners listed above, but you can still participate and earn some omnicoins to play around with.
• Extract you chosen miner • Create a batch file to run the miner - create a batch file named run.bat inside the miner directory. Inside the file, choose the appropriate code for your miner, just replace username, workername and password with the values in step 2: • 'cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://192.99.
-O username.workername:password' • 'cudaminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://192.99. -O username.workername:password' • 'minerd.exe --url=stratum+tcp://192.99. --userpass=username.workername:password' • Find your GPU/CPU - If you find your CPU/GPU then copy the parameters given to the end of the line in step 5 • Run run.bat Thanks to for the mining tutorial Mining related FAQ What is mining?
This is the process of attempting to solve a block. When a block is solved the owner is granted 66.85 coins. Every day a set amount of Omnicoins get dealt out, and the amount is X and is always the same, so to make sure the currency is being dealt out evenly, the people who have the most mining / hashing power get the highest share of the block reward. The more hashing power on the network the higher the difficulty is to ensure that only X amount is being dealt out every day. The reward per block is 66.85 omnicoins per block. That means roughly 1337 coins are generated per hour, 32,088 per day, and 224,616 per week.
Note that the reward per block will be cut in half after 100,010 blocks have been mined which is roughly 208 days or 46,720,128 coins from the date of launch. Mining will take all available resources on your computer in order to submit hashes so you may experience a loss of performance if you are trying to do things while mining, usually hardly noticeable unless you're playing a game while mining off your video card. How often are blocks generated?
Blocks are generated based on their block time, for omnicoin that is every 180 seconds. The difficulty will adjust using Kimoto's Gravity Well. What this means is that if a block is solved too quickly the difficulty is increased, thus making it harder to find the solution to the block. If it takes more than 180 seconds for the solution to be found then the difficulty will be adjusted accordingly. I want to mine!
Omnicoin is a scrypt coing which means you cannot mine with SHA-256 or any other method. If you want to mine I suggest you take a look at your scrypt mining rate using this link. With that rate you can then estimate your earnings based on the current difficulty using this mining calculator.
If you are interested in renting rigs there are several sites which do so, I personally have used betarigs with much success in the past. Should you need help setting it up I recommend looking at Snorlax's tutorial on the subject. What software to mine with? The same link we used for hash rate we can also use to find out which miner is best. All current Omnicoin pools have download links under the 'Getting Started' section. Be aware that these are not the only miners that exist, they are just the ones that have gained notoriety as being high quality and free.
CPU or GPU mining? Both can be used to mine scrypt coins such as Omnicoin but GPU offers a much higher hash rate. AMD (better) and Nvidia offer the best hashing rates. For instruction on how to set these up please reference Snorlax's thread. I don't know what kind of video card I have To find out what video card you have follow these steps: • Open up start menu • In the search bar type 'device manager' and open it • Expand 'Display adapters' There you go!
That's your video card(s) which you can now look up using this link. If it is not under there you will most likely find it on google by searching ' hash rate'. If you have no success let me know and I'll see if I can help you out. Can I mine with a laptop? You can, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Laptops have integrated graphics cards which offer poor hash rates and many people have experienced laptop failure in some way due to over working it through mining. Mining with a smartphone would be even less efficient. Solo mining verse pool mining Solo mining is when you are hashing alone to try to solve the block. A pool is a group of people mining together that will split the reward if they solve the block. Very very rarely will it be better to mine alone as when you mine in a pool you'll be contributing to the greater hash rate (pool hash rate) and will receive rewards accordingly.
If you have a mining rate of 20MH/s in a pool of 300MH/s in a network of 500MH/s then your pool is likely to solve the block 3 in 5 times, and of those times you would receive 6.67% of the block reward as that was your contribution towards solving it. Choosing a pool and setting up If you plan to mine your best option is usually to join a pool. For Omnicoin there has been several pools but there have been two that have been consistent since launch which are: Doctor Blue's pool: Pool.Omnicoin.CC Xen0n's pool: Omnipool.Me After registering on these pools you'll want to set up 'workers'.
The purpose of setting a worker name is to identify who gets credit for the hashes submitted to the pool. After you have created some worker names you will use those along with the stratum address you get under the 'Getting started' tab to point your computer, server, or rig to the pool of your choice with the name of your choice. Can I mine with a botnet? Yes you can but be aware that the rates will be much lower and you would need a silent miner to do so. You should also be aware that some pool owners ban the use of botnets. To get a silent miner you either need to find a free one, purchase one in the marketplace, or create one yourself.

Video Guide What is Darkcoin? DarkCoin is the first privacy-centric cryptographic currency with anonymous block transactions powered by DarkSend. We currently have a fully functional public beta for DarkSend, see below. DarkCoin uses a new chained hashing algorithm approach, with many new scientific hashing algorithms for the proof-of-work. This is so that the processing distribution is fair and coins will be distributed in much the same way Bitcoins were originally. ASICs will be much more difficult to make for these algorithms and will take years.
With the chained hashing, high end CPUs give an average return similar to that of GPUs. Another side effect of the algorithm is GPUs run at about 30% less wattage than scrypt and 30-50% cooler. Online Wallet– More Info –, Exchanges –, How t0 Mine DarkCoins? 1.) Disable your Antivirus.

Hi, about the arguments, I can not seem to get them working properly if I were to use dark pools text:”-a X11 -o stratum+tcp://drkpool.com:3333 -u workerusername -p password” replacing the username and password with worker created. This gives a stratum authentication error.
But the q30 or default arguments in cpu miner has two sets of -o -u -p, is this what I am missing? Or if I where to want to add a alternative pool in the data.ini file it does not pick up the newly created folder, basicly all i do is duplicate the darkcoin folder rename it and add it to the data.ini with my new pool url •. Hi thank you.
I gave up on trying to put any alternative argument into that program. What i ended up doing was, downloading the 64bit pooler cpuminer, but it did not understand the x11 algo so since simple cpu miner does I copied the contents of the darkcoin folder from simple miner and into poolers to overwrite which ever file it may be (just to be safe) that causes the X11 to be understood by one but not the other. Deleted the a.bat file since it is pointless. Now each time I have a new pool I create a clone folder with the pool name and add the -a x11 ect string and save it as my setup[poolname].bat, my pc sucks only dual core 1.8 but I get about 30 kh/s on average Hope this helps someone and ps. Stay away from multiminer if all you have is a little pc without gpu that wasted 2hours of my life. Also i tested this with doge and quark although their clients do not seem to sync and memory coin uses pointless power.
Sounds like something is blocking it, donald actives when you click start if something is blocking process.exe from opening the mining program it will show it mining but is really not mining anything. Open task manager and see if you have a ProcessD or ProcessC.exe also something should be using like 99% of your CPU if it is not then it is not mining. Trust me if i had your coins you mining i would give them back, once someone sent me 1000 coins by mistake i sent them right back you can look under Quarkcoin Guide in the Notes and see what I mean. Hi Nick- I have finally decided to begin Mining DarkCoin. I have been just purchasing prior.
Thank you for setting up this pool for programming novices like myself. I set up both the GPU and CPU the other day. Initially the CPU was running fine and the GPU was not. I made sure to exclude both programs with Avast Anti-Virus. Today I go in to check on my miners, Donald was working hard but it seems nothing was going on.
I uninstalled both and reinstalled. Now it seems GPU is doing something, but I am not sure. CPU is dead in the water. If you need help to spread the word, let me know.

3, Some selected stats from my GPU mining: 16.83Kh/s, A:136, R:11, HW: 767021, WU: 0.121/m., I: 8. I can change the intensity using the [G]PU management settings; increasing it to 9 increases the Kh/s a bit.
How do you recommend changing some of the other parameters like worksize that do not show up in [G]PU management settings? I exported the config file using [S]ettings [W]rite config file, and the config file showed 0 for worksize. A hardware guide for my video card suggests setting the worksize to 128.
Is my sgminer really using 0 for worksize, and if so how to change it to 128? Ok so i have seen two accepted. The first one said 1/1 100% yay! And the second said 0/1 0% boo does that mean i should have been paid on the 1/1? Because i wasn’t. And i keep getting a stratum_recv_line failed error. Is this referring to my receive address?
Because i made sure it is correct many times. Or is this what should be getting accepted and the reason i am seeing so few accepted. Also i’m using avg and for some reason even when i added the correct folder exception AVG still removed the process and minderd programs when i turn protection back on so i reinstalled and then added exceptions for the files. Is it possible there is another file i need to add an exception for in order to get paid? Hi Nick I have been CPU mining dark coin with your software for a couple of days. Everything has been going well and has worked as you described in your Video Guide, however I have a couple of questions. How long do you need to mine for to earn a single coin?
I don’t have much for 2 full days mining. The first couple of days my transactions were gradually dropping in but that seems to have stopped now. See Attached screen shot. Donald is still mining away nicely;0). Dos screen looks good but no transaction or coin update.
From time to time (but not very often) I have noticed the DOS screen say “accepted, (yay!!!)” what does this mean (no way as fast as what your video says.) Many thanks Nick •. I have not gotten paid after mining for more than 24 hours. Each time i start the miner the it says “Failed to get Stratum session id” and when i check the worker tracker at (the pool i have chosen to use) nothing appears. -a X11 -o stratum+tcp://elitter.net:7903 -O XhsK9zvKwnxdjPbUCrW3W7JBFqKNFZ3DVY:anything -D -t 4 Also same error with other pools, with protocol, and when using -u & -p for username/password also when using [%coin] for username and when not defining number of threads. Infact nothing seems to make this work •. I believe nick is going to update the miner program.
In the meantime try stratum+tcp://elitter.net:7903 also append +0.000023 to your receive address this will change the difficulty of the work you will receive so that you will receive much more work. Then go to that pools website at and find out your suggested difficulty by putting in your receive address (without the ±0.000023) in the worker tracker section. It will keep changing but you want to change what you appended to be just slightly under their suggestion. Keep checking and changing until you find what works for you.
I’m not sure whether I need to adjust the difficulty or not, there doesn’t seem to be a problem getting work (If I’m reading the Dos window correctly). I was working with the second most recent CPU miner till the the new update, and both showed work being accepted, but neither my wallet nor the website showed my receive address. I was running the old software for about a day and now the update for a couple of hours. I’m running a q6600 at 3ghz and the khash/s seems to average high 30’s to low 40’s when idle, but I have no idea what sort of numbers are decent, so any advice would be appreciated. If your worker difficulty rate isn’t set appropriately you will not being doing work at a consistent frequency and will not be displayed on the worker tracker. You should be getting yays every few seconds.
The yays are the work you are doing. Just because it detected a block doesn’t mean anything. You only work on blocks that match your selected diffculty. It will take at least 24 hours to receive a pay out as the work you are doing with such a small hash rate doesn’t pay much. I have been mining on and off for over 24hrs and have not received a payment either which worries me that i also have the wrong setup. That being said i am consistently doing work and i am always on the worker tracker which accurately display my hash rate and estimated payouts because i have accurately set my selected difficulty.
I cant stress this enough you have to do this. It takes two seconds. Just append +0.000232 to your receive address and watch the difference •. What is your average total kHash/s? Try multiplying that number by 0.00000232 then take your answer and amend it to your receive coin address for me 100kHash x 0.00000232 = 0.0000232 has worked very well so far for me. Its just under the average recommended which helps with stales and getting payouts but high enough so that sometimes the recommended drops below it (which is necessary once every 24hrs for payouts in p2pool from what ive read.) so In my receive address I have XhsK9zvKwnxdiPbUCrW3W7JBFaKNFZ3DVY+0.0000232.
Have you noticed a change since specifying your worker difficulty level? UPDATE: so i’ve been mining for over 48 hours with no deposits. I started questioning why and keep remembering something i read that said that in p2pools you need to solve at least one job that is higher than the suggested difficulty. I was thinking this meant suggested difficulty from the worker tracker but i am now thinking this means the difficulty that is dynamically set while the miner is working. When i removed my settings for selected difficulty the dynamically set difficulty was in a range 1000x more difficult than what i had set based off of the worker tracker.
And i was still getting yays. So i think everything i preached to you guys about setting worker difficulty based on worker tracker is not only wrong but possibly keeping you from getting paid. I believe the confusion may have come from before Nick updated the miner the old was not working as well and decreasing the difficulty level so much showed a large difference in obtaining work. That being said i think everything i have said in this forum til now, with the exception of alerting Nick to the updated miner, should be taken with a grain of salt.
I’m now going to mine without selecting difficulty and see if i can get paid. I may be wrong here. But the payment you receive is in direct relation to the number of “yay’s” you get.
For instance when I started GPU mining I was getting.0009845 per block found. After 48 hours of continuous mining and over 20,000 shares I am getting 0.005xxx per block found. Same with my CPU mining.
The more “yay’s” I get the more I get paid so continuous mining will pay off. Another thing to consider is the time to share and I believe that is with continuous mining. For instance when mining with my CPU it told me 10 hours to share. It was closer to 12 before I got my first payment but since then I have been getting paid on every block found even when not actively mining. I turned off mining for about 5 hours today and still got payments for the 4 blocks found during that time (CPU mining). I have not paused my GPU mining as my machine appears to handle gaming AND mining at the same time just the hash rate goes from 4.8 Mhash to 2.x Mhash. You have set the pseudo difficulty way too high for cpu mining.
There is an explanation of difficulty levels. Basically you take your average khash/s rate and multiply it by 0.00000116 to get your pseudo difficulty then add that to your address. My cpu averaged 125 khash/s but to make my math simple I just multiplied by 100 and got 0.000116. Since then I have been getting more work and less “busy” work and receiving “yay’s” very very quickly while cpu mining. Still have not gotten paid for my cpu mining but looking at the statistics page looks like GPU mining is more effective. I started GPU mining with my nvidia card at 4404 khash/s and already received payment in less than 24 hours. I suspect all of my cpu work will take much longer to pay off if at all on the current p2p nodes.
Ok so since p2pool assigns a difficulty number uniformly to every worker on a node based only on how many workers are on said node us little cpu hashers are getting assigned difficulties way higher than is proportional when we are working alonside big bad gpu’s. “P2Pool takes the total hashrate on each node and assigns a share difficulty for that node based on that number. This means that large miners may increase the share difficulty on a node to a point where smaller miners are working on shares too difficult for their speed.” i thought i was setting share difficulty previously but i was only setting pseudo-share difficulty. ” Q: Can I set my own share difficulty?
A: There are two different difficulty setting you can specify. Share Difficulty and Pseudo Share Difficulty. It is important you understand the difference. Share Difficulty by address is shown in the Miners tab.
Share Difficulty: address/ Sets the share difficulty for shares that count towards a payout. P2Pool takes the total hashrate on each node and assigns a share difficulty for that node based on that number.
This means that large miners may increase the share difficulty on a node to a point where smaller miners are working on shares too difficult for their speed. The maximum a node can raise the share difficulty is 30x the P2Pool share difficulty. To determine the maximum share difficulty find the P2Pool share difficulty displayed on the Stats page and multiply by 30. The P2Pool share difficulty displayed on the Stats page is the lowest share difficulty that can be assigned to a miner.
If you would like to provide your miner with the lowest P2Pool share difficulty use: address/0 CAUTION: Setting your share difficulty to the lowest P2Pool share difficulty may decrease your per block payout to a point where you may encounter large transacion fees. Try to keep your per block payout above the coins minimum transaction fee as setting your own share difficulty overrides the minimum payout threshold. Pseudo Share Difficulty: address+ Pseudo Share Difficulty is what a P2Pool node sends to your miner to keep it busy waiting for a share that attempts to solve a block and count towards a payout. It does this so you can verify the miner is hashing correctly and make adjustments as necessary. P2Pool nodes also use pseudo shares to populate graphs and hashrate display. Setting pseudo share difficulty allows you to set the quantity and difficulty of pseudo shares in-between share used to solve blocks. Setting the pseudo share difficulty will help minimize the amount of traffic from your miner to the P2Pool node.
To set the pseudo share difficulty for your specific hash rate multiply by 0.00000116 For example, if your miner is capable of 1440 Kh/s: 1440 * 0.00000116 = 0.0016704 You can set both share and pseudo share diffuculty settings together by using: address/+ Example Connection String for a miner choosing the minimum P2Pool share difficulty with 1440 Kh/s:” the worker tracker display suggested local share difficulties ranging from 0.000026** – 0.000030** if i set this difficulty on the low end of the 2’s it helps keep stale rate down which should help with payouts also. I’ve chosen to set at 0.0000232. My effective rate ranges between 80kH/s – 115kH/s so i multiply 100 by 0.00000116 = 0.000116 this is my pseudo share difficulty together these settings are keeping my stales around 5-6% and my effective rate around 100kH/s here is my string: minerd -a X11 -o stratum+tcp://elitter.net:7903 -O XhsK9zvKwnxdjPbUCrW3W7JBFqKNFZ3DVY/0.00000232+0.000116:anything -t 4 -H •.
Address/0.000056+0.000116 it seems to keep the stales down and rates up if i choose a real difficulty higher than the suggested but not too high. I’ve been doubling the suggested difficulty. My total day payout ranges from 0.002-0.003 with payouts every 1.5 hour average. Of course elitter seems to be down right now and by there own admission may not be the best pool for low hash rate miners so i might explore others curiously on darkcointalk’s pool i cannot set these manually and my difficulty rating is set at 1.02 i’m supposing i wont see payouts from there.
